BA in Professional and Technical Communication

The field of professional and technical communication is rapidly changing due to the advancements in content strategy, social media, and augmented reality. Our new BA program will introduce you to all these new innovations as well as help you master the principles that established the field, including strong writing, editing, research, and critical thinking skills.

You will feel confident that the skills you develop in our program will have local as well as global marketability. Texas currently employs more technical writers than any other state except California, and the DFW metroplex employs the sixth most technical communicators in the US. Nationally, the number of employed technical communicators should increase 18% by 2018, which is more than the 10% increase expected for general writers and editors (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2010-2011 edition).
