Applicants should send the following materials directly to the Toulouse Graduate School:
- A completed graduate application form with the intended major indicated in the appropriate blank.
- Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores sent from the Educational Testing Service. Candidates applying for all MA programs in Linguistics and Technical Communication must take the GRE verbal and analytical writing sections.
- Official scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination for students whose native language is not English.
- Official transcripts for all previous undergraduate and graduate academic work.
All LTC applicants should send the following materials directly to the Department of Linguistics and Technical Communication:
- A 300–500 word personal statement describing the applicant’s interests, career plans, and purpose in working toward an MA.
- A current vita or resume.
Candidates also applying for an academic assistantship or teaching fellowship should send the following directly to the Department of Linguistics and Technical Communication:
- A teaching fellowship/academic assistantship application.
- Three letters of recommendation that assess the candidate’s potential both as scholar and as teacher.
- Writing samples comprising two polished pieces (e.g., a research paper, manual, proposal, or other piece of technical communication.)
US Citizens or Residents
- Complete and submit a graduate application at www.applytexas.org. Choose “University of North Texas”. Important: List ALL the universities/colleges where you have enrolled or attended since high school graduation. Choose “TESOL Certificate” from the list of Graduate Academic Certificate programs. Remember to complete each section and press SUBMIT.
- Pay the application fee. On the last page of the online application indicate the method of payment.
- Provide the official academic transcript(s) or documents from ALL the universities/colleges listed on the online application form. Mail these to the Toulouse Graduate School. UNT cannot accept unattested photocopies, notarized photocopies, faxed or scanned official documents; however, an official translation is not required.
International Students
The admissions process for international students involves the following steps. Please consult the UNT International Programs website for the most up-to-date information on the application process for international students.
- Complete and submit a graduate application at www.applytexas.org. Choose “University of North Texas”. Important: List ALL the universities/colleges where you have enrolled or attended since high school graduation. Choose “TESOL Certificate” from the list of Graduate Academic Certificate programs. Remember to complete each section and press SUBMIT.
- Pay the application fee. On the last page of the online application indicate the method of payment.
- Provide the official academic transcript(s) or documents from ALL the universities/colleges listed on the online application form. Mail these to the mailing address below. Provide official documents in the original Spanish language and also prepare an English translation. UNT cannot accept unattested photocopies, notarized photocopies, faxed or scanned official documents; however, an official translation is not required.
- Provide and MAIL the official degree certificate(s) or diploma from ALL the universities/colleges listed in the education history of the application form. Mail the documents to the mailing address below. Provide official documents in the original Spanish language and prepare an English translation. UNT cannot accept unattested photocopies, notarized photocopies, faxed or scanned official documents. UNT does not require an official translation.
- Send a short email to the International Office, international@unt.edu, after you have completed Step 1 above and confirm submission of your online application. This will ensure that your application is processed correctly. Remember to provide your full name and date of birth so they can locate your materials quickly.
- Provide an official score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or satisfy the English proficiency requirement in an alternate manner specified by the International Admissions Office.
